Vloeiend en muzikaal spelen is wat iedere musicus wil!
Het belang van een vloeiende en muzikale speelstijl is van alle tijden. Het ontwikkelen ervan heeft al vele eeuwen de aandacht van zangers en zangpedagogen. Mede hierdoor is er een overvloed aan studiemateriaal, meestal in de vorm van vocalises. Van oorsprong zijn vocalises bedoeld als vocaal studiemateriaal. Ze zijn echter ook bijzonder geschikt voor koperblazers. Frits Damrow selecteerde een twintigtal Vocalises van de bekende zangpedagoog en zanger Ferdinand Sieber. Hij stelde ze met zorg samen tot deze bundel en bewerkte ze voor trompet. Op de meegeleverde cd speelt Damrow ze zelf op prachtige wijze voor. U treft hier eveneens oefentracks aan om mee te spelen. De pianobegeleiding staat als printbare pdf op de cd. Zo kunt u de prachtige melodieën ook met een pianist uitvoeren.

The 20 Vocalises written by singing master Ferdinand Sieber were chosen, arranged and recorded for this edition by the solo trumpeter Frits Damrow. The pieces focus on the - often neglected - middle and lower register. The book is a sequel to Bel Canto for Brass, another "vocalise" method offering suitable exercises for breathing, sound quality, intonation and endurance.

Canto Ostinato

Canto Ostinato (letterlijke betekenis: 'koppig lied') is een avondvullende compositie van Simeon ten Holt.
Het stuk werd voltooid in 1976 en voor het eerst uitgevoerd in 1979. De precieze bezetting is vrij en kan variëren van één piano tot vier piano's en marimba. Er is ook een vrij bekende harpuitvoering door Assia Cunego. Tijdens de uitvoering van Canto ostinato worden veel beslissingen aan de musici overgelaten. Het stuk, dat gerekend wordt tot de minimalistische muziek, bereikte een breed publiek. Van de cd die Polo de Haas en Kees Wieringa in 1996 van Canto Ostinato maakten werden meer dan 15.000 exemplaren verkocht: een unicum voor een Nederlandse componist van 'serieuze muziek'. In 2005 nam het Piano-Ensemble het voltallige werk op voor meer vleugels.

Het werk is een van de beroemdste werken uit de hedendaagse Nederlandse klassieke muziek. In 2011 maakte de Nederlandse documentairemaker Ramón Gieling met About Canto een film over de compositie en de invloed die het op mensen kan hebben.[1][2]
